These wells are one of the only sources of potable water, and since there is very little electricity, and it is expensive, the water is pumped by hand.   • This young boy was carrying wood back to his village near the town of Mahabilipuram which eventually was damaged by the recent tsunami. We spent a weekend there whiole volunteering and helping RIDE, an NGO trying to eradicate child labor in the silk weaving industry, to market non child made sari's and other child labpr free products such as batik which RIDE was teaching women to manufacture, to local outlets.
