A grandmother is pumping water to wash clothes, and carry back to her home in the pot, from a well in a village near Kanchipuram. Her grandson stands nearby. These wells are one of the only sources of potable water, and since there is very little electricity, and it is expensive, the water is pumped by hand. We were volunteering for RIDE, an NGO working to eradicate child labor in the silk sari weaving industry.
